| When the Magic
Kingdom first opened its doors to the public, Tomorrowland was the only land not to
be ready. Rides like Space Mountain made it a popular destination, but by the early
nineties Tomorrowland was looking rather out of date. Disney realized that tomorrow will
always eventually come and Tomorrowland would always be in need of revitalization. They
then changed the perspective of Tomorrowland from a general future to the future
envisioned by fiction writers and movies. The difference is that Tomorrowland got new,
exciting attractions and a ultra-modern look otherwise the difference in theme is
negligible.
The most popular ride in Tomorrowland
besides the perennial favorite of Space Mountain is the ExtraTERRORestrial
Alien Encounter. This attraction is a "must see" for first time
visitors, but it lacks the surprises the second time 'round.
If Space Mountain and Alien Encounter are
too much for your kids, you might want to take them for a spin in a miniature Indy Car on
the Tomorrowland Speedway. Big kids and parents might find the trip a bit
slow, but small children eat it up.
Another popular ride is the Timekeeper,
a 360-degree movie narrated by the voice of Robin Williams. The experience of a 360
degree movie and the zaniness of Robin Williams make up for the fact that there are no
seats in the theater. |
