downtown disney

jessica tweaked2.jpg (25201 bytes)Downtown Disney is a fabulous shopping and entertainment complex that has everything you could desire from your evenings in Orlando. There are bars, dance clubs, movie theaters, themed restaurants, attractions and the circus is even in town at the Cirque du Soliel Theater. Of course the wholesome Disney atmosphere is prevalent throughout Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island, but you can still find plenty of opportunities to let loose and have a good time being bad.

Downtown Disney is comprised of three sections, Pleasure Island, The Market Place and the West Side.

beach club sign.jpg (7314 bytes)Pleasure Island is where most of the odious activities would take place. Every night is celebrated like New Year’s Eve, complete with countdown and toast. After 7 PM, the park closes it’s gates and charges admission (around $20, but is included in the all-in-one hopper), a guardian must accompany children under 18. You can find clubs, bars and live stage shows in Pleasure Island.

The Market Place is the place to go for great food and shopping. You can find restaurants like the Rainforest Café, McDonald’s and the Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop. The main draw for children is the interactive LEGO Imagination Center and The World of Disney, a Disney merchandise super-store that has 12 themed rooms.

bongos2.jpg (15009 bytes)West Side provides lots of great dining and entertainment options. You can have dinner at restaurants like the Wolfgang Puck Café, Bongos Cuban Café or theme restaurants like the House of Blues and the biggest Planet Hollywood you’ve ever seen. The most intriguing entertainment options are the Cirque du Soliel presentation, the Virgin Megastore and DisneyQuest, an incredible high-tech attraction.
